Five mindful warm-ups before any watercolor session

Slow lines, graded wash, hard-to-soft edges, value steps, and timing drills. Each takes two minutes. Repeat daily.

Value mapping: the silent skill behind vibrant work

Before color, decide the value pattern. Squint at references, sketch three-value thumbnails, and protect whites early.

Edges: decide, don’t drift

Choose hard, soft, or lost edges intentionally. Paint wet-on-wet for soft, dry-on-dry for hard, and charge color for energy.
